About our Charities

 

Bid-Bob.com has selected seven charities to participate in our charitable giving program. We will donate 5% of the Gross Profit of every product auction to charity ($5 minimum contribution). After each product auction is completed, the auction winner will choose one charity from this list to receive a donation from Bid-Bob.com. You can learn more about the seven charities by looking through the information listed below.

  • Crisis Control MinistryCrisis Control Ministry: Based in Winston-Salem and Kernersville, North Carolina, Crisis Control Ministry was founded in 1973. Crisis Control Ministry is a Christian-based ministry whose mission is to assist people in crisis to meet essential life needs and to become self-sufficient. Client Services include monetary assistance for Rent, Utilities, and Heating Fuel. Crisis Control Ministry also runs the largest free pharmacy in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Clients received over 26,000 free prescriptions valued at over $2.1 million dollars in the last fiscal year. Crisis Control Ministry's Client Choice Food Pantries allow clients to choose the foods their family will eat, and demand continues to grow during these difficult economic times. Crisis Control Ministry has a history of providing a loyal and dedicated volunteer base who meet with clients to understand their needs and provide them with critical crisis intervention assistance.


  • Forsyth Humane SocietyForsyth Humane Society: The Forsyth Humane Society has grown over the years and now serves as the leading nonprofit organization in the Triad providing animal resource information, animal education, low cost spay/neuter assistance, and promotion of responsible pet ownership. Forsyth Humane Society has operated in Winston-Salem for over 65 years. Over the course of an average year, FHS volunteers log more than 10,000 hours helping to ensure that our doors remain open and our services remain in place.


  • Backpack BeginningsBackPack Beginnings: BackPack Beginnings directly affects childhood hunger in Guilford County North Carolina by sending school-aged children home with backpacks full of nutritious and kid-friendly food on the weekends during the school year. It is based on The BackPack Program, a national model developed by Feeding America and Second Harvest Food Bank that has been implemented by Second Harvest in many counties in North Carolina - but not in Guilford County. BackPack Beginnings sought to bring this program to our county's children. BackPack Beginnings is a 100% volunteer program. The program's primary expense is supplying food and backpacks to the recipient children.

  • Autism SpeaksAutism Speaks: Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. At Autism Speaks, our goal is to change the future for all who struggle with autism spectrum disorders.


  • Susan G KomenSusan G. Komen for the Cure: Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1.9 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure®, and generous contributions from our partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, we have become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.


  • CJ Foundation For SidsCJ Foundation for SIDS: Recognized as one of the largest, leading SIDS organizations in the country, the CJ Foundation was founded in 1994 by Joel and Susan Hollander in memory of their daughter, Carly Jenna, who died from SIDS in 1993. Since its inception, the CJ Foundation has provided millions of dollars towards SIDS research projects, organizations, support programs and public education and awareness campaigns throughout the nation, making tremendous strides in its fight to eliminate SIDS. Today, the Foundation is the largest non-government funder of programs meeting the needs of the SIDS community. The CJ Foundation contributes its resources to the nation's leading SIDS investigators. As research has indicated that risk reduction is possible, the CJ Foundation is committed to developing, implementing and providing funding for education and awareness programs so that the message of risk reduction reaches every potential population. The CJ Foundation is national in scope and also supports bereavement and counseling services for those families that have lost a baby to SIDS.

 

  • St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: When late entertainer Danny Thomas opened the doors to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 1962, he was not just changing the lives of those children that would walk through its doors.  He was changing lives across the world.  St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility.  Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.  With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly.
